Iran Ranks 1st In Producing New Medicines In Region

Tehran, July 1, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran ranked first in terms of producing recombinant drugs, vaccines and nanodrugs in the region. Iran is now producing some 97 percent of its needed drugs. Several medicines which were formerly imported are now produced domestically by experts. Iran has made great achievements in various fields of science and technology, from producing ordinary medicines to recombinant drugs, vaccines and nanodrugs. Scientists have succeeded in producing new types of recombinant drugs for treating various diseases including blood diseases, hemophilia, infertility and Multiple sclerosis (MS). They have also produced several vaccines including influenza, anti-botulism, anti-rabies, measles and rubella in children. Iran has also presented to the market a new home-made anti-cancer nanodrug for chemotherapy for the first time in Middle East. The first home-made chemotherapy nanodrug can be used by gastrointestinal cancer patients./end
