Iranian uses new method to treat uterine adenomyosis

Tehran, April 15 , IRNA - Iranian gynecologist and head of Sarem Cell Research Center, Abu-Taleb Saremi, has developed a new method for treating severe uterine adenomyosis. Saremi explained that adenomyomectomy is used for women suffering from severe uterine adenomyosis. “Instead of removing the uterine, it is repaired,” he told the English-language newspaper ˈIran Dailyˈ in an interveiw published Tuesday. The above-mentioned technique applies for treatment of women with damaged uterine muscle or those who suffer from heavy bleeding, pain, repeated miscarriages, and infertility. Adenomyosis refers to endometrial thickness. Hysterectomy (surgical removal of uterus) is recommended for treating adenomyosis. However, for women who wish to preserve their uterus due to personal inclinations, religious beliefs or pregnancy plans, adenomyomectomy is recommended. Saremi has offered an improved technique of adnemyomectomy and assessed the clinical success rate and safety of surgery. Some 103 Iranian women suffering from severe adenomyosis were candidates for the surgery. Based on finding results, the new method introduced for adenomyomectomy is a conservative and effective way of treating severe adenomyosis.
