Italy: Death toll from novel coronavirus rises to 5

ANKARA The death toll from coronavirus in Italy has risen to five, local media reported Monday. Some 219 people are infected by the deadly virus, according to Italian news agency ANSA. The latest reports indicate that Italy has the third-largest number of cases of coronavirus in the world, dwarfed by China and South Korea, which have 77,150 and 833 cases, respectively. Italy’s hardest-hit region is Lombardy, in northern Italy, with 167 cases and four deaths reported. In a statement, Italy's regional Balkan neighbor Serbia warned its citizens not to travel to Italy until the health situation there is normalized. Separately, Serbian Ambassador to Italy Goran Aleksic said that there are no reports of Serbian nationals being infected by coronavirus in Italy. The coronavirus has sounded global alarms, with China reporting 2,592 deaths from the outbreak on Monday. Outside mainland China, the coronavirus has spread to more than 25 other countries, including the U.S., U.K., France, Spain, Russia, Iran, Singapore, and India. Last month the World Health Organization declared the outbreak an international health emergency.
