Malaysia To Host World Cancer Congress In 2018

KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will be hosting the World Cancer Congress and World Cancer Summit in 2018, said National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) Principal Patron, Rafidah Aziz. She said the first ever event to be held in Southeast Asia will be organised by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). "It is indeed our hope that we continue to obtain support to make the congress a success," she said at the 50th anniversary of NCSM here, Thursday night. The event was graced by NCSM Royal Patron, Sultan Perak (Malaysia's Perak state Ruler) Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah who was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim (Perak state Ruler spouse). Rafidah said annually, more than 6,000 individuals have undergone mammogram screening services at the NCSM and 1,300 came to the Nuclear Medicine Centre for bone, renal and thyroid scanning. She said NSCM was also planning to launch its own information system that could be helpful in providing clear and credible information about cancer to patients, public, health care professional and caregivers.
