Malaysia Major Supplier Of Medical Equipment Among OIC Countries

BALIK PULAU (Penang, Malaysia), April 13 (Bernama) -- Deputy Health Minister Dr Hilmi Yahaya said Malaysia is a leading supplier of medical equipment among Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries. "An OIC medical representative who told me this last year described Malaysia as the largest supplier of medical equipment in the world. "Malaysia leads 57 OIC countries in the supply of medical equipment such as devices and furniture used in hospitals," he told reporters after closing a programme for students of Perda-Tech here, Sunday. In fact, Arab countries also expressed interest to learn from Malaysia about the technology used by Malaysia to produce medical equipment. Dr Hilmi urged the younger geenration to study hard and become pioneers in designing new equipment. On the dengue situation in the country, he expressed relief that the spread of the disease has shown a decline. "Now, only 1,600 cases are recorded nationwide within a week compared to 3,000 to 3,500 cases previously for the same period. "All the parties concerned are working hard to tackle the spread of dengue," he added. -- BERNAMA
