Malaysia Wins Big At International Medical Tourism Awards Night

ATHENS, May 24 (Bernama) – Malaysia was tremendously recognised for health and medical tourism when it won nine awards at the International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) Medical Travel Awards last night in Athens, Greece. The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) won Health and Medical Tourism Cluster of the Year as well as the Highly Commended award under Health and Medical Tourism Destination of the Year at the annual event which was the climax of the IMTJ Medical Tourism Summit. Speaking to Bernama from the Hellenic Motor Museum, MHTC chief executive officer, Sherene Azli, beamed as she said, “This is recognition for all those who collaborated to promote the country’s superior-quality medical tourism. We have proudly set a benchmark for the rest to follow. The awards are just more validation of the efforts and initiatives of MHTC and the medical facilities under its umbrella.” Having won this major award (Health and Medical Tourism Cluster of the Year) for two years in a row, Sherene said it would encourage them to keep striving to reach higher standards in medical tourism services. Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur took home the International Hospital of the Year and Best Marketing Initiative awards as well as the Highly Commended award under Excellence in Customer Service. TMC Fertility Centre won for International Fertility Clinic of the Year and Best Quality Initiative, the National Heart Institute of Malaysia (IJN) won the International Specialist Patient Centre of the Year award, while Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre won the International Cosmetic Surgery Clinic of the Year award. The healthcare providers in IMTJ’s fifth awards night were assessed on innovation, excellence and best practice. The panel of 20 jurists, comprising medical and health tourism experts, celebrated those who are leading the way in the industry and delivering successful outcomes for patients. -- BERNAMA
