MONGOLIAN MENTAL ATHLETES WIN 17 MEDALS IN LONDON

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian mental team of ten athletes has grabbed a total of 17 medals at the 22nd World Memory Championship. This Championship is currently taking place over the three days November 30-December 3 in the Croydon Conference Centre, South London. At end of the second day of the tournament, our team added ten more medals to seven, won on the first day. Junior and kids competitors G.Temuulen (12) and B.Namuuntuul (17) have broken five new world records in the first three disciplines–Names and faces, Binary numbers and Hour numbers. G.Temuulen won three gold and one silver medal, while the Grand Master B.Namuuntuul claimed gold medals in four categories, and silver in one. At the junior category, another Mongolian Ts.Bat-Erdene won four silver and one bronze medals, in all preceded by his teammate B.Namuuntuul. At the adult category, S.Tsogbadrah grabbed a silver medal at the speed cards, and O.Sengesamdan won a silver in 5 minutes number contest, following Ben Pridmore from Sweden. The country rankings have thrown up a big surprise with Mongolia achieving second place to Germany for the first time. A record 32 countries and 120 Mental Athletes and Arbiters have arrived in Croydon for the 22nd World Memory Championship. These include Canada, Indonesia, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway, Pakistan, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, Wales, Finland, Vietnam, Denmark, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, South Korea, Italy, Japan, Algeria, Poland, USA, India, Mongolia, Sweden, China, Philippines, Germany–including World Memory Champion Johannes Mallow, and the host country England.
