Nahyan approves project for Ovarian cancer research

ABU DHABI (WAM): Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and President of U.A.E. Genetic Diseases Association, UAEGDA, on Wednesday approved a project for Ovarian cancer research and the project's budget, the second phase of the breast cancer project and the genetic survey for favism, the G6PD deficiency (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency). Sheikh Nahyan gave the approvals as he received a delegation from UAEGDA and the executive team of the 5th National Conference on Genetic Diseases, which was held last month in Dubai. In his remarks at the meeting, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak hailed the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the leadership's support for efforts to advance the healthcare sector and enhance the well-being of people in the U.A.E. He also commended the outcome of the recent conference which he described a global achievement made by U.A.E. in terms of the quality of researches presented at the event and the wide participation it saw as it brought together some 923 genetic scientists, experts, researchers, international academics, physicians, and representatives of government healthcare providers and pharmaceutical manufacturers. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395270415754.html
