National Ambulance Project officially launched

Manama, June 15 (BNA): Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, today announced the official launch of the National Ambulance Project after evaluating the preparedness and taking all procedures to enhance the quality of related services. The move is part of the implementation of a Royal decree of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to form and regulate the National Ambulance Centre to manage and develop the ambulance services in Bahrain through coordination between the Interior Ministry and the concerned authorities. The project was also launched in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. The services were launched in the first phase in Muharraq Governorate and the Southern Governorate, and then in the Capital Governorate and the Northern Governorate. There will be 13 centres in all districts by the end of the current year, which are equipped with the most advanced ambulances and qualified medics. The project, which is managed by the Interior Ministry, operates within the highest level of discipline in performance and competency to ensure fast response to medical emergencies through benefiting from the best international experiences in this field. The project includes linking the Operation Rooms with the latest communication and control systems and Geographical Security System to ensure swift response. The Interior Minister stressed that the project requires coordination between the National Ambulance Centre Directorate and the ambulance centres and ERs Departments of the Salmaniya Medical Complex, the BDF Hospital and the King Hamad University Hospital. He said that the project reflects the development levels of various services sectors in Bahrain to meet the needs of citizens and the scientific development in the ambulance, safety and emergency medicine fields. The public could contact the main Operations Room to make requests to the National Ambulance. It is worth mentioning that the National Ambulance is dedicated to ensuring fast response to the medical emergencies, follow up and provide the needed medical services before reaching hospitals.
