New ThaiHealth develops website for PWDs

BANGKOK, February 9 (TNA) - Thailand's Health Promotion Foundation or ThaiHealth, Thailand Association of the Blind and other allies, have jointly launched a new website for persons with disabilities (PWDs) of all groups to enhance information accessibility and quality of life of the PWDs. The newly-developed PWDs-friendly website, [www.thaihealth.or.th], features a screen reader program for visually-impaired users, an on-screen keyboard system for those who cannot use computer mouses, a provision of subtitles or captions added to video uploaded on the website for the deaf and those of hearing impairs and a screen adjustment program for senior users or those with visual problems. According to the Thai Ministry of Public Health, there are around 1.8 million PWDs of all groups in Thailand who can now enjoy the newly-introduced PWDs-friendly website. Weerasak Tangplupan from Thailand Association of the Blind, who was among those first tried the new website, confirmed its practicality, saying that the website is easier accessible for those with visual impairs, urging all other agencies to follow ThaiHealth's policy on supporting information accessibity for PWDs of all groups. Apart from ThaiHealth and Thailand Association of the Blind, Open Dream Company Limited and the Change Fusion Institute also helped develop the PWDs-friendly website. (TNA)
