No More MERS Victim Found in Thailand

BANGKOK, June 28 (TNA) - All 36 people considered at high risk of contracting the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) because of staying too close to Thailand’s first MERS patient will have their full body check-ups before returning home this week. Dr. Sopon Mekthon, director-general of Public Health Ministry’s Disease Control Department, confirmed the measure on all the 36 people who were under close monitoring. Their quarantine would end later this week as none of them had shown symptoms of the deadly virus. So far, only one MERS patient had been found in Thailand and his symptom was improving steadily and would be allowed to return to his country as soon as his condition improves. The patient’s three relatives who had arrived in Bangkok during the same time also appeared to be in normal condition. Since January 1 up to June 28, doctors had diagnosed 64 people from South Korea and 46 others from the Middle East, who were suspected to have contracted MERS. (TNA)
