Nuclear Medicines Will Help Treat Diseases Effectively: BARC

New Delhi, Sept 25, IRNA -- Indian scientists Tuesday batted for large scale application of nuclear medicines saying it would help in effective diagnostics and treatment of some of the deadly diseases. Participating in the week-long 83rd National Workshop on Radiochemistry and Applications of Radioisotopes (NWRAR) inn Amritsar in Punjab state, they said nuclear medicines, also called radio-pharmaceuticals, are effective tools in treatment, pti reported. Radioactive substances in these medicines are effective tools for diagnosing and providing effective and accurate information of diseases like various stages of cancer, its treatment and prognosis, general manager, Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Satbir Singh said. BRIT is already producing and supplying cost-effective radio-pharmaceutical products to nuclear medicine centres in the country, Singh said. Other scientists participating in the workshop also expressed their eagerness for large-scale use of these medicines. A number of scientists from BARC, other top institutions and educational institutions from all over the country have converged for the workshop./end
