Panda Lin Hui is expected of pregnancy

BANGKOK, August 30 (TNA) - Northern Thailand’s popular Chiang Mai Zoo is closely monitoring 13-year-old beloved panda Lin Hui, which is believed to be pregnant following successful artificial insemination on June 21. Chiang Mai Zoo Acting Director Nipon Vichairut said experts from the Zoological Park Organization under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King and concerned officials will give Lin Hui an ultrasound screening during September 9 – 11 to see whether the panda is getting pregnant Among the many positive indications, Nipon said the level of hormone in the panda’s urine had increased in the past few days along with its body weight which rose to between 125 - 131 kilograms. The panda also consumed up to eight kilograms more food daily. Lin Hui and her mate Chuang Chuang, on loan from China, produced their first cub 'Linping' in 2009, thanks to artificial insemination. Linping was later sent to China to find its ideal mate. (TNA)
