PRIME MINISTER ADDRESSES NATIONAL FORUM ON GENERAL EDUCATION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh opened the second plenary session of the ongoing national forum themed 'Sustainable Development – General Education’ on January 22 in the State House. Under the auspices of the Prime Minister, the second National Forum on General Education is taking place in Ulaanbaatar on January 19-25. “2018 will be a year of infrastructure development in education sector,” remarked the Prime Minister. The Government of Mongolia plans to eliminate three-shift systems in all schools in the country and increase access to kindergartens. According to the Prime Minister, budget and foreign aid-financed construction works of 99 schools with capacity of 46,186 seats, 19 dormitories with capacity of 2,090 beds and 127 kindergartens with capacity of 20,140 beds will begin in 2018. The Prime Minister pointed out that the number of three-shift schools decreased from 31 at the end of 2016 to 21 by the end of 2017. “By the academic year 2019-2020, there will be no school with three-shift system,” he said. Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh also affirmed the Cabinet’s prioritization of the working condition and social guarantee of teachers and improvement of access and quality of education. Kh.Aminaa
