Russia to create coronavirus vaccines for various social groups - chief sanitary doctor

MOSCOW, June 4. /TASS/. A vaccine against the coronavirus won’t be single and several preparations will be created for various social groups, Russia’s chief sanitary doctor Anna Popova told the Valdai International Discussion Forum on Thursday. "Definitely, there won’t be any single preparation. There will be a whole range of various vaccines and preparations, which will be used for various groups," the head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing said. According to Popova, it was early to announce the date when the vaccine would be created. "Any announcement on the date would give hope and it seems to me that today it is still early to hope," she noted. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said earlier that mass vaccination against the novel coronavirus may be launched in the autumn of 2020 in case the vaccine trials are successful. Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova said earlier that 47 vaccines against the novel coronavirus infection were currently being developed in Russia. To date, a total of 441,108 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 204,623 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 5,384 fatalities nationwide.
