Russia to perform over 30 space launches in 2018 - Roscosmos

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. Russia plans to perform over 30 space launches in 2018, Head of the State Space Corporation Roscosmos Igor Komarov said on Thursday. "This year, we plan an increase in launches, more than 30," he said in a live broadcast of Rossiya-24 TV Channel. The production of space vehicles will be expanded, he added. The program of launching One Web satellites into outer space will make it possible to increase the number of launches in 2019, he said. As part of this program, the Khrunichev Space Center signed an option for the launch of 11 Proton rockets, Komarov said. Russia remains second in the world by the number of space rocket launches: last year domestic rockets blasted off 21 times, US rockets 29 times and Chinese carriers 18 times.
