South-East Asian Higher Learnig Conference winds up

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 6, IRNA – The 60th Conference of the Association of Southeast Asian Institution of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) ended 2-day discussion concerning past activities and prospect of performance of the union in capital city of Putrajaya on Tuesday electing Iran as president. Chancellor of Islamic Azad University Hamid Mirzadeh was elected as head of Board of Trustee of the union. Mirzadeh said in a speech that high participation of members and presentation of a great deal of papers in different scientific fields indicated success of the conference and bright prospects for the union. He expressed hope to enhance level of cooperation of members the union and bring together ASAIHL member universities in the next two year. Chancellor of University Putra Malaysia (UPM) Aini Ideris congratulated Hamid Mirzadeh as new head of ASAIHL Board of Trustee. Ideris, the outgoing president of the union, wished success for new chairman. He sad that considering different capacities especially in the field of education, the union may develop its relations with different countries, including Iran. ASAIHL board of trustee also agreed to grant membership of eight Iranian universities. So far, 210 universities from Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, The Philippines, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, East Timor, Poland, Belgium, Canada, France, Britain, New Zealand, Sweden and the US are members of the ASAIHL and that acceptance of new members including eight Iranian universities the figure rose up to 239. Iran will host the 62nd meeting of the union in year 2018. 1378/IRNA
