Sudan reports 3 deaths, 78 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

New infections bring nationwide total to 930
ANKARA Sudan confirmed three additional fatalities from the novel coronavirus Thursday, taking the nationwide death toll to 52, according to Worldometer, a provider of global COVID-19 statistics. With 78 new infections detected in the past 24 hours, that number rose to 930, said Worldometer, which noted 92 patients have recovered. The virus has spread to 14 of Sudan's 17 states, officials said earlier this week and confirmed the minister of infrastructure and transportation contracted the virus. After appearing in Wuhan, China late last year, the virus has spread to at least 187 countries and regions, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University's Coronavirus Resource Center. Nearly 3.8 million cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed worldwide, with more than 264,400 deaths and an excess of 1.25 million recoveries.
