Thai leader asks state agencies to help control hand, foot and mouth disease

BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday called on all government agencies to join in stopping the spread of the hand, foot and mouth disease, as the public was told to not panic. Speaking after returning from her visit to Germany and France, Miss Yingluck says she has ordered the Health, Interior and Education ministries to prevent the disease from reaching more public areas and campus grounds. She confirms experts are now working to verify whether the recent death of a child was from the outbreak. Regarding Friday’s car bombing attack in Sungai Kolok district of Narathiwat province, the premier says a commissioned probe is underway to nail down the perpetrators. Also, Miss Yingluck says she is to ask Myanmar President Thein Sein to consider the release of 92 detained Thai nationals in their meeting on Monday at the Government House. The 92 Thais have been detained since the beginning of this month and are expected to stand trial this week for encroaching on Myanmar territory. (TNA)
