Turkey: 94 year-old women beat COVID-19

SAKARYA, Turkey Two 94-year-old Turkish women successfully recovered after contracting the deadly coronavirus, which has claimed thousands of lives worldwide. According to doctors, elderly people with chronic diseases are at the highest risk group and most of the time they are unable to recover from COVID-19. Turkey currently has 117,589 coronavirus cases, while the death toll in the country stands at 3,081, and a total of 44,040 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus. Safiye Aybar and Rabia Turkkan are residents of the northwestern Sakarya province. Aybar and Turkkan, who became ill at Hendek Melek Nisanci Nursing Home on April 11 and were diagnosed with coronavirus, started receiving treatment immediately. After successfully completing treatment, Aybar and Turkkan were discharged from the hospital amid applause and sent by ambulance to the nursing home. Since first appearing China last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 185 countries and regions, with the US and Europe the hardest-hit areas. More than 3.2 million cases have been reported worldwide, with the death toll nearing 228,000 and almost 983,000 recoveries, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the US.
