UAE health care is among the best in the world: paper

Abu Dhabi, November 3, 2015 (WAM): The UAE has taken yet another leap forward and reinforced its reputation as a medical hub, commented a local English-language daily. In an editorial on Tuesday, Gulf News said, "Five months ago, Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah carried out a delicate procedure, implanting an ‘artificial heart’ to save the life of a young man. This week saw a tiny pacemaker implanted through a thigh vein of a 72-year-old man, who had an abnormal heart beat." "The medical sector in the UAE has gone from strength to strength. The rising number of visitors seeking treatment proves that more and more people from around the world have confidence in the medical sector of the UAE. "Trust in doctors and health care is the key factor. Dubai alone attracted 260,000 medical tourists in the first half of 2015, up 12 per cent for the same period a year ago. Some 1.2 million people visited Dubai Healthcare City in 2014. "Hospitals all over the UAE, including examples like Al Qasimi Hospital and the cancer specialists in Al Tawam Hospital in Al Ain and many others, have been pioneers in building the country’s remarkable health-care sector into one of the best in the world," concluded the Dubai-based daily. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/general/1395287473859.html
