Vietnam, US universities cooperate in first aid training

The United States’ University of Utah will provide a training course on first aid for 50 Vietnamese doctors, who are working at emergency wards in Vietnam. According to the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, a delegation of medical experts from Utah University has arrived in the city to provide information about first aid courses, which is part of a cooperation programme between Utah University and the HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMPH). Marta Ackers, Deputy Director of the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in HCM City said the programme aims to enhance capacity for Vietnamese doctors in providing first aid services and promote cooperation between universities. Early this year, the CDC’s technical experts and the UMPH’s lecturers visited Utah University to build an educational curriculum on testing techniques for students studying at Vietnam’s medicine and pharmacy universities. The visit helped promote cooperation in medical technique as well as opened new cooperation opportunities on first aid, said UMPH Director Vo Tan Son.-VNA
