WHO Support Simulation To Prevent Influenza Pandemic

SOUTH TANGERANG, Sept 20 (Antara) - World Health Organization supports Indonesia to hold a pandemic influenza epicenter prevention simulation in South Tangerang on 19-20 September 2017. "WHO supports our member countries to develop robust and fast-detecting health systems to cope with public health emergencies," WHO Representative to Indonesia Vinod Bura said in South Tangerang on Tuesday. A comprehensive and coordinated approach by involving both government and public is needed to face emergency preparedness such as influenza pandemic. The simulation, according to Bura, is in line with the 2005 International Health Regulations which form the framework of WHO member states to strengthen the capacity to manage international attention to public health emergency (PHEIC). It can also be an example that Indonesia puts real efforts to better its preparation and ability to overcome public health emergency. On the occasion, RI's Ministry of Health Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health Mohamad Subuh said the simulation is implemented based on existing legislation as well as existing guidelines and plans. "Refer to the first simulation in Bali and the second in South Sulawesi, this simulation is nationwide and involves international observers from seven countries and one international organization," he said. It also involves all relevant agencies and communities including operational mechanisms in responding to and responding to the emergence of an influenza pandemic epicenter in South Tangerang. Capacity displayed during the simulation will be assessed and observed by national and international teams and can be used as a guide for other countries. This simulation examines all aspects of preparedness including supervision, medical response and risk communication.
