First case of A/H1N1 in Almaty
Almaty, July 30, 2009 (Khabar) - Almaty has reported the story of a boy, who has recently come from Spain and was infected with the A-H1N1 virus. This boy came to Almaty on Saturday. The infected boy has passed through the infrared camera surveys and his state of health was fine. All symptoms appeared the next day. Currently, the general condition is satisfactory and he is on receiving out-patient treatment. The research showed that all his relatives are healthy.
Aizat Moldakasymova, deputy head of Almaty disease control department:
- In this situation the reaction of boy’s parents was right. They bought the “Tamoflu” medicine, started the treatment and used bulky dressings. On the next day they brought their son to the disease control department. I hope that all Almaty residents will act similarly in such a situation.
Uakyt Seidkaliyev, head of Almaty disease control department:
- The infected boy came from Spain. There were 237 passengers on board, including 83 residents of RK. Currently, the disease control department sent an inquiry to the Almaty Department for Home Affairs in order to find out the addresses of all passengers and to take tests.
Almaty has witnessed another meeting of the crisis centre for prevention of the A-H1N1 virus, where it was told that Almaty pharmacies can offer 10 thousand tubes of oxolinic ointment. It is planned to purchase another 300 thousand tubes. Currently, over 24 thousand of Almaty residents are abroad and in order to prevent the spreading of the virus the republic storage has large numbers of anti-viral medications. It is planned that 140 thousand Almaty residents will be injected. Currently, all services of Almaty are watching passengers from abroad. Specialists asked people to avoid foreign trips and if there is no such possibility, then to address a hospital after their return.

- There is no any ground for panic as all the services are ready: sanitary-epidemiological station, healthcare department and all the hospitals are ready with necessary medicines and we know how to treat this disease.
