Medical database introduced in Kazakhstan

Astana, May 23, 2009 (Khabar) - A new medical database containing all the necessary information such as legal acts, scientific research, articles, sanitary regulations, medical news, descriptions of diseases and their methods of treatment, has been created in Kazakhstan to help doctors. This is a joint project of the Ministry for Healthcare, the Fund of Kazakhstan’s First President and some non-governmental organisations. The presentation of the electronic reference book took place in Almaty. The database is expected to facilitate the work of doctors and to help arrange a great number of documents. The electronic catalogue contains almost 13 thousand articles and is to be updated monthly. According to the developers, the inquiry system is convenient because using software specialists from various medical institutions can simultaneously work on one problem all together. In the age of new technology, doctors now need to use all the IT opportunities available. In particular, doctors need to know how to work with the information and be able to search for it in the database. As a result, medical staff can always become informed about new techniques. Specialists at the presentation approved of the software.

Bektas Mukhamedzhanov, executive director, Fund of Kazakhstan’s First President:
- For a month, any medical institution can turn to corresponding structures in each region to be connected to the database and use it and get it updated free of charge for one year.
