2018 FIFA World Cup Official Emblem designed by Portugal’s Brandia Central

MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. The Official Emblem of the 2018 FIFA World Cup was designed by Brandia Central, a brand consulting agency based in Lisbon, Portugal, Russia-2018 organizing committee said in a release on Tuesday. Branda Central was chosen from among seven other agencies from Russia and other countries that took part in a tender for the further development of the Official Emblem. The main criteria used by the Judging Panel to rank the proposals were the overall impression on the design, if it conveys the spirit of Russia and if it illustrates a connection between Russia and the FIFA World Cup. Brandia Central was the best in terms of meeting the requirements of the creative development brief and the selection criteria. The Official Emblem of the 2018 FIFA World Cup was presented Tuesday evening by TV Channel One. The crew of the International Space Station (ISS) helped to present the emblem. The FIFA World Cup emblem was also been demonstrated on the building of the Bolshoi Theatre in central Moscow. The shape of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Official Emblem is an outline of the FIFA World Cup Official Trophy. Red, gold, black and blue in its colour palette refer to centuries-old techniques seen in world-renowned Russian art dating back to the earliest icon paintings. The Magic Ball at the top of the Emblem puts the world’s love to football into the spotlight. The Emblem’s components taken together blend unique attributes of the FIFA World Cup and of Russia as the host nation. The Judging Panel included Jerome Valcke, Secretary General, FIFA; Vitaly Mutko, 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Local Organising Committee Chairman and Russian Minister of Sports; Igor Shuvalov, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister, First Deputy Chairman of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Local Organising Committee Supervisory Board; Alexey Sorokin, 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Local Organising Committee CEO; Fabio Capello, Russian National Team Chief Coach; Igor Akinfeev, the Russian National Team’s goalkeeper, first ambassador of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia; Oleg Dobrodeev, VGTRK Media Corporation CEO; Denis Matsuev, Russian award-winning pianist; Valery Gergiev, conductor and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre; Chulpan Khamatova, Russian award-winning actress The 2018 FIFA World Cup Official Look programme and the Official Slogan will be launched in the first half of 2015.
