Al Attiyah Leads 4th Stage of Rally Dakar

Lima, January 11 (QNA) - Qatari racer Nasser Al Attiyah maintained Thursday a strong grip on the 41st edition of Rally Dakar after winning stage four which covers Arequipa to Tacna. The total distance of this stage is 664km. They are split between Liaison (259 kilometers) and Special (405 kilometers.) Aboard his Toyota Hilux, Al Attiyah and his navigator Matthew Baumel managed to edge out 'Mr. Dakar' Stephane Peterhansel, who won 13 times before. The Qatari Superman registered a time of 3.02.46 hours, 2.15 minutes ahead of Peterhansel. Nani Roma, Jakub Przygonski, and Yazeed Al Rajhi came in the third, fourth, and fifth places respectively. In the overall standings, Al Attiyah increased his lead over Peterhansel to 08:59 minutes according to the standings of the official Rally Dakar website. (QNA)
