Al Buainain: Qatar Ready to Host ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019

Doha, October 10 (QNA) - HE Secretary-General of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Committee and Director General of the Organizing Committee of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) World Beach Games Qatar 2019 said today that Qatar is ready to host the international event which will officially open on Saturday with the participation of more than 1,200 athletes representing 97 national Olympic committees. In a press conference held today and attended by the Secretary General of the Federation of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Gunilla Lindberg, HE Al Buainain thanked the ANOC for their confidence in granting Qatar the honor of hosting the first edition of the World Beach Games, stressing that this enhances Qatar's leading position in hosting major sporting events. He said that despite the short period of time that was available for the preparation of this edition, about three months, Qatar is determined to organize a distinctive and exceptional edition, as Qatar has always used to organize various events and tournaments. His Excellency added that the hosting of this edition and other major tournaments reflects Qatar's distinguished position as the capital of world sports thanks to the great support enjoyed from the wise leadership, headed by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, as the first supporter of sports and athletes, as well as the directives of HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, stressing the importance of such events which contribute to inspiring a new generation of Qatari youth. His Excellency thanked all government agencies, institutions and national and private companies for sponsoring and supporting the games as part of their commitment to social responsibility and their keenness to contribute to the success of sports events and championships held in Qatar, and thanked the media for their role in highlighting this global event in the best possible way. For her part, the Secretary General of the Federation of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Gunilla Lindberg thanked the State of Qatar for hosting the first edition of the ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019. Lindberg added that this edition is witnessing new sports competitions that represent a challenge for the athletes, wishing success to all participants and the organizing committee of the tournament.
