Al Mohannadi: Qatar Total Open Final to be Tough Match

Doha, February 16 (QNA) - Director of the Qatar Total Open Saad Al Mohannadi said that tennis spectators will watch tomorrow a tough match between No.1 seed Simona Halep of Romania, and World No. 21 Elise Mertens of Belgium in the final of Qatar Total Open. In the second semi-final of today, Mertens defeated Kerber. She defeated another top 10 seed before Kerber when she defeated Kiki Bertens earlier this week. In a statement today, Al Mohannadi said that Romanian Halep will be looking to win her second title in Qatar after 2014 but she will face a promising champion who has made strong performances so far in the Qatar Open. Mertens hopes to win against Halep tomorrow her first podium in Qatar. Al Mohannadi called on the fans to attend the final of the tournament, adding that they were keen to organize the final in earlier time to encourage the public to attend. The doubles final will take place at 3:30 pm, while the singles final will be held at 6 pm to allow them to enjoy the competitions and events prepared by the Organizing Committee of the championship, especially as the goal of the Organizing Committee is to attract the fans to this event, in which some of the best top seed player in the world are taking part. The tournament director praised the great public attendance for the two semi-finals today, saying that the spectators added a high competitive atmosphere to the tournament and the champions presented a great technical level in tennis today, especially in the first match between Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina.
