ASC President Hails Qatar's Organization of 14th Asian Shooting Championship

Doha, November 08 (QNA) - President of the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC), Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah praised the distinguished organization of the 14th edition of the Asian Shooting Championship, which is currently taking place at Lusail Shooting Complex and ends on November 14. In press remarks today, Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah thanked the Qatar Shooting & Archery Association and the Organizing Committee for the good organization of the Asian Championship after great preparation of Lusail Shooting Complex and the great attention given to the participants of the tournament in all organizational aspects. He added the ASC is proud of Qatar for its keen interest in the development of Gulf and Asian shooting in general. With regard to the cards that the Arabs have so far achieved in the current tournament to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, the ASC President said that the Asian shooters excel globally through the champions of China, India and South Korea. The competition in this tournament is world-class due to the big names participating in it, and the Qatari and Arab shooting sport in general compete ably and attain achievements and cards qualifying for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, he added. Sheikh Salman hoped to continue efforts to develop Asian shooting sport because it has a history and legacy, adding they have achievements despite the great difference in the capabilities of some countries, and have been able in a few years to make many achievements, and that they, in the ASC, are always seeking to realize these goals with all members including ASC Vice President Ali Mohammed Al Kuwari by developing plans and strategies for the coming years. For his part, Secretary General of the ASC Duaij Al Otaibi said that the tournament has made great gains due to its strong competitions and the participation of the most skilled shooters in this event. In a press statement, Al Otaibi said the current tournament in Qatar is a an advantage and represents a great opportunity for the Gulf and Arab and Asian countries to participate strongly and achieve outstanding results. He added that Kuwait have prepared well for this tournament and achieved a great achievement, received a qualifying card yesterday, and had received two qualifying cards before. He expressed his hope that Qatar and other Arab countries will realize more qualifying cards in the tournament, while congratulating Lebanon for the qualifying card achieved yesterday. "We congratulate all those who have achieved good results." He pointed out that the winning of the Asian Champions for 19 cards so far shows the strength of the championship, wishing the success of the Arab shooting champions in this tournament in achieving more qualifying cards for the Olympics. Obaid Al Osaimi, Secretary General of the Kuwaiti and Arab shooting federations and head of the Kuwaiti delegation, said that the Asian Shooting Championship in Doha is considered one of the strongest tournaments due to strong competitions among its participants as it offers 38 qualifying cards for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan next year. Al Osaimi thanked the Qatar Shooting & Archery Association and the organizing committee of the tournament, saying that all participants are satisfied with the organization and the tournament is going in an excellent format.
