Aspetar Organizes Conference on Management of Sports Medicine Emergencies on the Field

Doha, October 03 (QNA) - The National Sports Medicine Programme (NSMP) and Aspetar organized Wednesday a substantial conference entitled "Aspetar Clubs & Federations Conference Emergencies on the field." The objective of the event is to shed light on the medical emergencies that occur in the sport fields, their management and how to make the appropriate medical decisions and seeking the best outcomes that can be useful for the Sports Medicine practitioners in Qatar. This conference covers implementing the appropriate methods for assessing and managing medical emergencies and injuries as they occur in the field during play, as well as developing the medical care system in terms of making the right medical decisions to obtain efficient, modern and high-quality services. The conference was attended by a distinguished group of Aspetar experts, including 17 lecturers from different disciplines, to cover all issues related to the management and treatment of medical emergencies in the sports fields during the game. The lecturers also reviewed several medical emergency cases that may occur during the play ranging from life-threatening situations to injuries that may have a serious impact on the athlete's future career and health in general. It is worth mentioning that the National Sports Medicine Programme, launched by Aspetar in 2009, is a pioneering and unique initiative in the State of Qatar aimed at developing the quality of sports medicine for all Qatari clubs and federations and benefiting all local athletes and players from various sports through an expert medical team consists of doctors, therapists and nurses. Over the past year, the National Sports Medicine Program in Aspetar has provided medical care for all sporting events held in the country, which exceeded 83 sports events, with an average of 11,000 working hours, and supervised by 370 doctors and specialists.
