Aspetar Supports Athletes at Second Round of FINA Swimming World Cup 2018

Doha, September 09 (QNA) - Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital, are once again providing medical coverage to the world's top swimmers at the FINA Swimming World Cup 2018 taking place in Doha on Sept. 13th to 15th. For the seventh consecutive year, Aspetar's team of sports medicine physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and massage therapists will deliver medical services and support to athletes and their delegations for the duration of the three-day competition. Aspetar has also installed a fully-equipped bespoke clinic at Hamad Aquatic Centre to provide on-site medical support and intervention in case of any emergency. In addition, the swimmers will have access to Aspetar's world-class facilities and consultancy services provided as part of the hospital's role as an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Research Centre for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health. Aspetar Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdulaziz Al Kuwari said "Over the past decade, Aspetar has become a key delivery partner in the country's success of hosting leading international sports tournaments. Our ability to host flawless events and provide leading medical services to the world's leading athletes would not have been possible without the team's relentless pursuit of wanting to help athletes achieve their maximum performance and full potential." "We would like to thank Qatar Swimming Association to accomplish our mission to host a successful event as Aspetar continues its commitment to provide world-class medical services. The harmonious collaboration between international and Qatari sports organizations, evidenced with Aspetar and FINA, is clear evidence that the country is one of the world's leading organizers and supporters of international sports events" he concluded. President of Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) Khaleel Al Jabir expressed: "Aspetar is a worldwide sports medicine reference, with highly qualified staff and cutting edge technology. We, at QSA, have had faith in their experience ever-since the first tournament in 2012. He added "I would like to extend my thanks to those who have supported us during the previous tournaments. I'm sure that this year's edition will be exceptional". Aspetar has become the preferred training camp destination for national swimming teams of South Africa, Australia, France, and the United Kingdom for their 'live high-train low' programs. Aspetar houses a state-of-the art acclimatization facility enabling teams of up to 50 athletes benefit from advanced high-altitude recovery practices in a highly professional and comfortable environment. The event is the second international swimming event to be hosted by Qatar this year. The first round of the 10-kilometre Open World Swimming Championships was recently held in Doha. FINA Swimming World Cup 2018 in Doha will be different from the last six years. It will be held on the 50 metres long course and will last three days. Previously, it was contested over the short course of 25 metres and finished within two days. (QNA)
