Aspire Zone Foundation Ramadan Sports Festival Concludes

Doha, June 26 (QNA) - Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) has brought the fifth annual Ramadan Sports Festival (RSF) to a close, adding another sports mega-event, which attracted more than 1000 participants in 11 different sports over two weeks, to its list of achievements. For the duration of RSF, AZFs indoor and outdoor venues hosted members of the community taking part in Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Futsal, Cricket, Tennis, and Table Tennis tournaments, as well as a walking competition around Aspire Dome and many other family-focused activities. Commenting on the conclusion of RSF, Abdullah Aman Al Khater, Chairman of the Ramadan Organizing Committee at AZF, said: "We have successfully concluded the fifth edition of RSF and are proud of our accomplishments, both from an organizational perspective and in terms of the level of engagement from the community, which has exceeded expectations". He added: "This year's edition had several memorable moments for organizers and participants alike, including large numbers of participants in the pre-Iftar walking competition around Aspire Dome. The festivals success is a testament to our efforts to promote physical activity amongst members of the local community during Ramadan". Hyper Spikers win Ladies Volleyball tournament; Barcelona take home Junior Futsal title On Friday, Aspire Dome hosted the final rounds of this year's RSF as the Junior Futsal and Ladies Volleyball tournaments came to a close. In Junior Futsal, team Barcelona stunned Brazil 3-1 in the final to bring home the title. Bayern and AK Legend then battled for third place in a closely fought match that ended in a draw and a penalty shootout that Bayern went on to win. In Ladies Volleyball, tournament favourites Hyper Spikers continued their superb run, seizing the tournament from team Aktor in a thrilling finale. Team TWS earned the third place title. The triumph of this year's RSF will not end with Ramadan, however, but will continue throughout the year. The success of new tournaments such as cricket, both in terms of participation and spectatorship, has created new incentives for AZF to innovate and expand its year-round calendar of events and look into ways it can cater to the interests of a wider segment of the local community.
