Azerbaijan to vie for medals at Tromso2014 Chess Olympiad

Baku, July 31 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan will compete in the Tromso 2014 Chess Olympiad, which kicks off in Norway Friday. The Azerbaijani men`s squad includes grandmasters Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Teymur Rajabov, Eltaj Safarli, Gadir Huseynov and Rauf Mammadov. In the women`s event, Azerbaijan`s hopes will be pinned on Zeynab and Turkan Mammadyarovas, Gulnar Mammadova, Khayala Abdulla and Sabina Ibrahimova. The Tromso 2014 Chess Olympiad will bring together 178 men and 139 women teams, including 385 grandmasters. A day of Azerbaijan will be arranged in Tromso as part of the tournament featuring the presentation of Baku as the capital of the World Chess Olympiad 2016.
