Azerbaijani female wrestler celebrates gold in Junior World Championships

Baku, August 9 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani female wrestler Sabira Aliyeva has picked up the gold medal in the Junior World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. Aliyeva battled six minutes with reigning European junior champion Russian Anzhela Kataeva for a 13-5 victory at 72kg at Dom Sportova arena to join 2010 champion at 44kg Marziget Bagomedova as the second junior women’s world champion from Azerbaijan. Another Azerbaijani wrestler Solmaz Hashimzade claimed bronze in the 55kg weight category after beating Canadian Amber Maschke. Ragnetta Gurbanzade also won bronze medal for Azerbaijan in the women`s 67kg wrestling on the first day of the competition. Azerbaijan ranked third with 33 points, one gold medalist and two bronze medal winners.
