Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports to attend Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport

Baku, September 17 (AzerTAc). The 13th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport has commenced in Macolin, Switzerland. Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov will represent Azerbaijan at the conference, the Ministry’s press service said. Azad Rahimov will preside at the opening of conference as he is one of the co-chairs of the conference. The ministers will discuss the promotion of integrity in sport to combat match-fixing, and in particular the pros and cons of negotiating an international convention compared to continuing with co-operation based on existing conventions, complemented by decisions and non-binding legal instruments. The conference is said to adopt several resolutions on some questions related to the policy of pan-European co-operation and strengthening the monitoring capacities of the Convention on Spectator Violence. The guests will also be invited to the presentation of pan-European cooperation (cooperation with WADA, European Union, and UEFA) in sports. As a part of his visit, Minister Rahimov will meet with Mr. Mr Thorbjørn Jagland, the 13th Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Azerbaijani Minister will also hold presentation of Baku-2015 Olympic Games.
