Bahrain’s sports achievements hailed

Manama, Sep.3 (BNA): Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, second vice-chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and BOC honorary president, congratulated Bahrain’s delegation on their success at the recently-concluded 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang. Bahrain achieved its best participation by taking home 26 different medals in total, including a record 12 gold, seven silver and seven bronze, amidst tough battle with 45 nations from across the continent. Shaikh Isa extended congratulations Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President on Bahrain clinching the 11th place on the Asian countries general classification scale and the first place at the Arab level in the 18th Asian Games. He described the achievement as the dividend of the support of Shaikh Nasser as well as Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, president of the Bahrain Athletics Association, for sport and athletes in Bahrain. Shaikh Isa also noted the significant role of the Bahrain Olympic Committee in supporting and following up national sports federations, which resulted in this historic achievement.
