Bahrain bags 50 swimming medals in Doha

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): Bahrain Swimming Association's Board Chairman, Shaikh Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, congratulated the leadership on the Kingdom of Bahrain's 50 medals in the short watercourse Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Swimming Championship hosted in Doha on February 3-6. Bahrain has accomplished a new record in the history of GCC swimming that came as the result of support from Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) spearheaded by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and all BOC officials as well as the persistent efforts of the association's board of directors, technical and administrative bodies and the efforts of swimmers who bagged numerous chromatic medallions. Bahrain national team clinched 50 medals, including 10 golden, 28 silver and 12 bronze medallions. Last year, Bahrain bagged 35 medals in the GCC championship in Doha. In 1991, Bahrain won a record number of 32 medals in Muscat.
