Bahrain grabs Arab judo title

Manama, Feb. 27 (BNA): Bahrain was crowned overall champions of the Arab Judo Championships, which concluded in Morocco. The nationals secured an impressive first place finish among men, while the women's team came in second place, totaling 17 medals (10 golds, 4 silver and 3 bronze). Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and BOC secretary general Abdulrahman Askar conveyed the congratulations of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President to all members of the delegation, and his best wishes for them in future challenges. He congratulated the judo teams on their outstanding results and noted the efforts of the administrative teams, which played a key role in this achievement. It is an unprecedented achievement for the Bahrainis in such major regional sporting event, where some of the Arab teams and clubs competed for glory. This outcome has never been achieved by any Arab team, which affirms the advanced level of judo witnessed in the Kingdom of Bahrain in recent years. Bahrain completed the championships on top, having won first place in the men’s team event, first place in the men’s singles, second place in the women’s team division and second place in the women’s singles. The judo team topped the overall standings, having won first place in the men's singles, second-place in women's team and second place in the women's singles. Meanwhile, the Bahrain delegation returned home to a special welcome reception at Bahrain International Airport, where they were greeted by top sports officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Bahrain Martial Arts Association.
