Bahrain to host first Arab Endurance Championship

Riyadh, Oct. 5 (BNA): During their extraordinary meeting here, the Arab Equestrian Federation announced that the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the First Arab Endurance Championship. Members decided in the meeting to increase equestrian sports competitions in the Arab region during the next year. It was announced that the first Arab endurance championship will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the first Arab showjumping championship will be held in Egypt, in addition to another related competition in Oman, with a total budget of USD3.5 million. The Kingdom of Bahrain delegation to the meeting was headed by Ghaleb Mokhtar Al Alawi, the Secretary General of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) and Haider Al Za’aby the Chief Executive Officer of the federation. Al Alawi commended the meeting which he said will enrich the Arab equestrian sports and energise the activities of the member Arab federations. Al Alawi underscored the important role of the Arab Equestrian Federation in supporting Arab riders and equestrian federations. Several matters were discussed in the meeting in relation to equestrian sports in Arab countries and the challenges faced by them. Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah, President of the Saudi Equestrian Federation was elected as the new president of the Arab Equestrian Federation. Mohammed Al Dossary, the Secretary General of the Saudi Equestrian Federation was elected as the Secretary General of the Arab Equestrian Federation. Hesham Hatab from Egypt, Suhail Khoury from Lebanon and Mohammed Sober from Algeria were elected as the deputies of the president of the Arab Equestrian Federation.
