Manama, Jan. 12 (BNA): Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, will be traveling to Lausanne, in Switzerland, to attend the Athletes’ Entourage Commission of the International Olympic Committee. Shaikha Hayat was re-elected member of the Athletes’ Entourage Commission last September for the third consecutive term as per decision by IOC president Thomas Bach. Joined by BOC International Affairs coordinator Maryam Mardana, the IOC’s Athletes Entourage Committee member will be involved in discussions during the two-day meetings, scheduled for January 14 and 15. The meetings will be chaired by Athletes Entourages Committee chairman and former Ukrainian pole vault champion Sergey Bubka and attended by all members, in addition to IOC president Bach. The committee will discuss a number of topics on the agenda, notably the achievements of the work plan for the next four years, in addition to the recommendations of gender equality of opportunities, mental health as well as the joint meeting with the IOC’s Athletes Commission. Shaikha Hayat, on her part, has prepared a draft that will be presented at these meetings, which includes a number of suggestions that contribute to support athletes, protect their rights and secure their future after retirement.
