Baku 2015 canoeing and kayaking competitions kick off in Mingachevir

Mingachevir, June 14, AZERTAC Canoe and kayak athletes have launched their bids for medals as they start their performance at the inaugural European Games at "Kur" Sport and Rowing Centre in the city of Mingachevir. The standout event of day one is the men's K1 1000m, which throws together some of the most successful athletes in Canoe Sprint: Germany's three-time world champion Max Hoff, Baku 2015 ambassador and 2013 European champion Rene Holten Poulsen of Denmark and the Czech Republic's reigning world champion, Josef Dostal. A total of 300 men and women athletes came to Mingachevir. Azerbaijan`s squad includes 7 athletes, including one woman athlete.
