Baku to host 2021 Trampoline World Championships

Baku, July 29, AZERTAC The FIG Executive Committee have selected the host country for two future World Championships at its meeting in Pacific Harbor, Fiji on 26 July, awarding the 2021 Trampoline World Championships to the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation and the 2020 Acrobatic World Championships to the Swiss Gymnastics Federation. The 35th edition of the Trampoline World Championships will take place in Baku from 11-14 November 2021, at the Milli Gymnastika Arenasi (photo), the same arena which hosted Gymnastics events at the inaugural European Games in the city in 2015. Azerbaijan has already hosted two Trampoline World Cups, in 2016 and 2017, but this will be the first time it will have staged the World Championships in this discipline. The 2021 Trampoline World Championships will be followed by the 28th World Age Group Competitions, which will run from 19-22 November. President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Mehriban Aliyeva commented: “I am confident that organizing the World Championships in Trampoline Gymnastics, Tumbling and Double Mini-Trampoline in our country in 2021 will contribute to the further development and popularization of this gymnastics discipline, as well as helping strengthen international relations in the field of sports.” The Trampoline World Championships take place every year except for Olympic years. The next edition will be held in St Petersburg, Russia between 7 and 10 November this year, with the 2019 edition to follow in Tokyo, Japan between 28 November and 1 December 2019. The Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships are a biennial event, staged in even-numbered years.
