BOC delegation to participate in GCC meeting

Manama, Apr. 3 (BNA): Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa today will chair the Bahraini side at the 30th meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) National Olympic Committees’ Presidents in Riyadh. Shaikh Abdullah is heading the Bahrain delegation on behalf of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President. A number of subjects will be brought up at today’s meeting, including the approval of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah vision, Shaikh Nasser’s initiative to establish a GCC sports dispute committee, an initiative by UAE Olympic Committee president Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum to activate school sports events, and honoring the winning GCC Sports Organising Committee in 2015. The board meeting will also discuss arrangements to facilitate transports of horses among GCC countries, the venue and schedule of the Third GCC Games and the First GCC Junior Games, the a proposal to increase the budget for GCC Organising Committee awards and the GCC National Sports Day. The meeting is one of several scheduled for this week, including the GCC National Olympic Committees Presidents’ Executive Office gathering, in which BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar will be present. The Bahrain delegation to Riyadh also includes BOC board member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, BOC Acting Sports Affairs Executive Director Abdul-Jalil As'ad, Sports Training and Development Centre director Nabeel Taha, and International Public Relations director Fajer Jassim and Public Relations head Mohammed Al Zayed.
