BOC organises National Sports Day

Manama, Nov. 29 (BNA): The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) organized on Thursday its first-ever ‘National Sports Day’ for the employees to mark the Kingdom’s 44th National Day celebrations. The Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation’s gym at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town hosted this dedicated event, which featured a range of variety sports activities and competitions. It was attended by BOC board member and former fastest Arab female athlete Ruqaya Al-Ghasra and representatives of different national sports associations. The function was part of the programmes set up by the BOC’s Communication Committee, headed by Nawaf Abdulrahman, in an attempt to promote a healthy society and reflects its vision for a healthy and happy life. Other members of this recently-formed permanent committee are Fadi Humaidan, Fai Buallai, Hasan Juma, Fatma Al Marzouqi, Fatma Al Saad and Mohammed Al Blooshi. Some of the activities included were athletics, volleyball, basketball, football, handball, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo, shoot the target and physical fitness, which helped in a positive interaction among representatives of the committee. BOC secretary-general Abdulrahman Askar joined the committee employees to take part in these activities. Late on, he awarded the top winners with cash prizes and other commemorative gifts. Askar congratulated the winners, but noted that the main purpose of this event was to bring all the staff together and to celebrate the national day in a friendly environment. The BOC secretary-general directed the organisers of the sports day to hold similar activities on a regular basis to strengthen the bonds among all members of Bahrain Olympic Committee. Results: 1 Hasan Juma, 2 Mohammed Salman, 3 Khalid Mohammed, 4 Sayed Abdulsamad, 5 Abdulrahman Askar, 6 Khalid Fuad, 7 Dennis, 8 Hasan Ali, 9 Waheeb Al Eid, 10 Kaltham Elyasi.
