BOC participates in GCC NOC meeting

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC)'s Secretary-General Abdulrahman Askar will head the committee’s side at the 85th GCC National Olympic Committees (GCC NOC) Presidents’ Executive Office meeting in Doha. Askar, joined by BOC representatives Fajer Jassim and Mohammed Al Zayed, is also attending the 14th joint meeting between the Executive Office and the GCC Sports Organising Committee. These two meetings are due to take place over two days on November 11 and 12. Some of the top issues to be discussed at the meetings is the initiative of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for sport dispute resolution, and a proposal by UAE Olympic Committee president Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Maktoum to develop school sports. The Executive Office will also hold talks on the Yemeni and Iraqi athletics associations joining the GCC Sports Organising Committee, in addition to a cooperation protocol between the GCC, Morocco and Jordan. Other subjects lined up include discussions on the GCC sports games bylaws and a proposal from Kuwait to organize Cultural Olympics for the GCC countries, as well as a bid to support Qatar’s campaign to host the 2022 World Cup.
