BOC secretary praises technical evaluation results

Manama, Sept. 18 (BNA): Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) Secretary-general Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar has affirmed that the technical evaluation of Bahrain’s participation at the 18th Asian Games that came to a close recently in Jakarta and Palembang, in Indonesia, would provide a clear picture of the most positive and negative points of the participation and push towards enhancing the positive aspects and avoiding the negatives ones in the next edition. Askar's remark was made after the BOC first scheduled meeting with the national federations that took part at the 18th Asian Games in an attempt to evaluate the results of its teams. In the first meeting, attended by representatives of four national federations – bowling, maritime sports, self-defence and cycling, technical information were presented, as each federation discussed their respective results at the games with representatives of the BOC. The second meeting was attended by members of three federations – equestrian sports and endurance horse ride, shooting and cycling, while the third meeting is scheduled for today with the federations of football, athletics and handball. The triathlon and mixed martial arts federations meeting are yet to be scheduled. Askar expressed appreciation for the great efforts exerted by the players, technical and administrative staff during the Asian Games, but stressed the importance of this evaluation process in order to look into some of the unexpected results in some sports during the competition. The secretary-general was briefed on several technical reports presented by relevant sports federations and discussed with its representatives all the points that accompanied their participation in order to study their outcome according to the sound scientific bases, leading to a more honorable achievement in future editions of the games.
