BWF Announce Host Countries For 2019-2025 Major Events

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- The Badminton World Federation (BWF) today revealed eighteen hosts for upcoming Major Events from 2019 to 20125 to its eleven associations from four continents. China is leading the way whereby they have been given  the right by the world governing body to host four events – 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals, 2021 and 2025 Sudirman Cup and also the 2021 World Junior Championships. The announcement on successful bidding countries was announced by the BWF president, Poul-Erik Hoyer Larsen, here, Thursday. Poul-Erik, when met by reporters after making the announcement, revealed that the unparalleled decision to award 18 hosts in one bid process was in line with BWF’s vision to establish long-term targets to broaden its development initiatives and create a strategic position for the sport around new projects and partnerships. “We were lucky to receive some outstanding bids, all with the same forward-thinking vision as us. Following an exhaustive assessment period, we were able to determine the host cities and countries that best represented the interests of the sport," added Poul-Erik, the 1996 Summer Olympics men's singles gold medallist.
