Calls For Sports Cluster In BIMP-EAGA

KOTA KINABALU (Sabah, Malaysia), Nov 29 (Bernama) -- The Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) sports council meeting has suggested that sports should become an additonal cluster to the collaboration between the member countries. Former chairman of the BIMP-EAGA Board of Sports, Mohd Hamid Mohd Jaafar said that sporting events were not included as one of the clusters in the seven cluster collaboration among the nations. "So what has been decided here can be seen as an important decision for those who have been tasked with coordinating the overall cooperation among members of BIMP-EAGA. It is hoped that the suggestion to include sports as a cluster could be acted upon," he said. He told this to reporters after the BIMP-EAGA sports council meeting and the handing over of formal duties to the new chairman, Jufri Rahman, here Friday. Mohd Hamid of Brunei Darussalam held the chairman's post of the BIMP-EAGA Board of Sports from 2013 till now and is succeeded by Jufri Rahman from south Sulawesi, Indonesia. --BERNAMA
