Children’s sports festival to be organized

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the cabinet meeting on November 21, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Education and Sciences were obligated to organize the fifth National children’s sports festival in 2015, including within the categories of summer and winter sports. The festivals for children and universities and the nationwide festivals are organized every four years. Children’s sports festival will run in June among the disabled children, in eight categories, in September--among the general education pupils in 15 categories, and in five categories of winter sports--in December next year. While the previous festivals were held in three phases, all sports tournaments of 2015 festival will begin in Ulaanbaatar simultaneously with an attendance of the righteous athletes chosen from the State Championships to complete 5-7 days. The participants of the festival will be actively included in cultural events as well. The first children’s sports festival was organized in 1999. The International Olympic Committee has also made a decision to regularly organize the Teenage Olympic Games starting from 2010, to promote youth engagement in sports.
